On Thursday, January 21, Our NYC colleagues from the New Museum and local Winston-Salem creatives will come together for an inspiring conversation. This meetup will feature entrepreneurs using art and immersive technology to disrupt and inspire change around racial equity.
Moderating the conversation will be Ryan Schmaltz, the Director of UNCSA’s Media and Emerging Technology Lab (METL) in Winston-Salem.
Our creative entrepreneurs will include Glenn Cantave, Founder, Movers & Shakers NYC, an activist, performance artist, and social entrepreneur who uses immersive technology to highlight the narratives of the oppressed. His team creates augmented reality apps designed to disrupt and reframe social norms in the classroom, cultural institutions, and public spaces. They strive for a more equitable representation of diverse cultures. Glenn and his co-founder were recently named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in education.
And from Winston-Salem, creative disruptor Larry Barron, also known as LB the poet. Larry is the founder of the Word Academy, where he teaches self-expression through poetry in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System and the FEAR Academy where he molds high school age inner-city youth in the ways of entrepreneurship. CCE launched the Momentum Bonfire Encores series as a response to the Beta Bonfires hosted by IdeasCity WS and Wake Forest University. The bonfires feature creative entrepreneurs and their engagement with the world as an editable landscape ripe for intervention.
CCE was inspired by this work and seeks to stimulate more conversations to catalyze and inspire Winston-Salem designers, artists, and creatives in thinking, making, and doing!
Join us for the conversations to keep the creative entrepreneurial flames burning!
We hope you can make it. Register here: https://bit.ly/momeetup_1212021
